Having grown up in South Africa, on the family farm, Charles migrated to Australia in 1991, having already obtained his legal credentials in South Africa. After completing the necessary entrant training, Charles commenced practice in 1999 but maintained a particular interest in Agricultural law.
After moving to the Goulburn Valley, and being invited to join the team at Dawes & Vary, Charles saw the opportunity to take advantage of his knowledge in Agricultural Science by working in the area of Water Law. Being guided by John Adams, Charles has now forged the way for Dawes & Vary’s Water Law team, and along the way attained a reputation for being the expert in all things water.

Charles is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.
